'Bridge trust gap to build strong bond with your children'

PATNA: Head of psychology department, Patna University, Priyadarshini Narayan on Sunday highlighted the importance of trust building between children and their parents in the present technology-driven era and called upon both the groups to bridge this trust-gap.
Addressing the teachers and guardians at a goodwill meeting organised by St Xavier's College of Management and Technology here, Narayan observed: "Trust is the essence of healthy relationship and hence, bestowing trust on others is the secret of sustaining good interpersonal relationships. The parent-child relationship must include the important ingredients of love and trust."
Moreover, the institution of family is also strengthened by strong bonding and trust among different members of a family, she said.
Narayan's talk was followed by a live interaction with the parents in which she answered all the queries related to the difficulties faced by them in parenting owing to the generation gap. She counselled the guardians to maintain healthy relationship with their wards and have full faith in their growth and development.
A skit, focusing on substance abuse, was also presented on the occasion. Prominent among others, who addressed the meeting, included college rector Joseph Sebastian, principal Martin Poras, vice-principal Sushil Bilung and BBA teacher Saumya Shukla.
