Now, precautionary Covid vaccine available at 3 Prayagraj hospitals, 21 CHCs

PRAYAGRAJ: With an objective to administer precautionary dose to all eligible recipients, officials of health department have ensured adequate stock of Covishield booster dose at three hospitals including Beli (TB Sapru) Hospital, district women hospital (Dufferin) and Daraganj urban primary health centre in city and all 21 Community health centres in trans-Ganga and trans-Yamuna pockets of the district.
The fact is that only 37.3% eligible beneficiaries in all age groups had taken their precautionary doses in the district till last year ( December 2022) as per the data of district health department. Nodal Officer (vaccination) and Additional CMO Dr Teerath Lal told TOI, “Adequate stock of covishield vaccine is now available to eligible recipients at three hospitals in city and 21 CHCs”. He added that there has also been limited stock of Covaxin and all eligible recipients are being administered precautionary dose. Health officials have appealed eligible recipients to take precautionary dose at nearby health centres. Officials also claimed that trained health staff have also beendeputed at all vaccination centres.
Statistics of health department also revealed that about 94 percent children in the age group of 15-17 years have taken both the doses in Sangam City. While around 99.42 percent of children in the age group of 15 - 17 years have taken their first dose of vaccination. The district health authorities have also set a target to administer jabs to atotal of 2,52,226 children in the age group of 12 and 14 years in the Prayagraj district. While 99.32 percent of them had taken first dose, around 92 % have taken the second dose in the district till now.
As far as 18 years plus covid vaccination figures are concerned,the district health authorities had set a target to administer vaccine to 45,15,217 recipients and 98 % of them have taken second dose. Moreover, all target recipients of above 18 years of age had achieved cent percent target as far as administration of first dose was concerned. Interestingly, the district health authorities had set a target to administer covid vaccine to 5,74,329 elderly people and 91% of them had already taken second dose. Moreover, 95% of them were administered first dose. The first covid vaccination programme was rolled out in the country on January16, 2021. In the first phase of vaccination, only those 18 years and above were allowed for jabs. In the second phase ofvaccination, 15-17 years olds were included. Vaccination of children in the age group of 12-14 years was taken up from March 16 onwards.
