The Port Arthur Library is ready to assist those who need help filing their taxes.

The library's partnering with the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance and Tax Counseling for the Eldery to offer free tax preparation services for low- to moderate-income people in need of help preparing and filing their 2022 tax returns.

Services at the library, 4615 9th Ave., start on Feb. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and continue every Saturday until April 15, with the exception of Easter weekend on April 8.

The program is available to qualifying elderly residents, as well as the disabled and those with limited English proficiency.

The program’s goal is to help residents throughout the region maintain compliance with tax filing regulations and avoid any complications from missed or misfiled IRS tax returns.
