AHMEDABAD: A 42-year-old woman who was trying to board the sleeper compartment of the Ahmedabad Jammu Tavi Express was rescued seconds before she was about to slip into the gap between the platform and the train.
The video footage shows the staff of the crime intelligence wing of the Railway Protection Force, who were in the coach ahead, jump off the moving train and pulling the woman back to safety.
The two staffers were head constable Girish Chaudhary and constable Dhirajpal Singh.
The railway officials who released the video on Sunday said that on Friday, at about 11am, Amita Parida, a resident of Odisha, was travelling to Jodhpur from Ahmedabad. Parida noticed that the train was about to leave the platform and ran and tried to board it.
As the video showed, Parida first kept her luggage inside the train but as she tried to get inside, she slipped. Just then, two RPF personnel were also getting inside the train. One of them noticed Parida slipping into the gap between the platform and the train. He jumped off the coach and pulled the woman to safety. The staff even asked the guard to stop the train. She later boarded the same train.
