Kanpur: UP pacers exploited the grass and climatic conditions pushed Assam in a very tight corner as the visitors could score just 52 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in the rain affected first day's game at the Green Park stadium here on Sunday.
Pacer Kunal Tyagi and Purnank Tyagi used the red cherry well and shared 5 wickets between them. Purnank grabbed 3 wickets for 19 runs while Kunal picked 2 wickets for 15 runs.
The match began a bit late in the morning due to rains and later stopped for some time due to bad light. Only 27 overs could be dropped and the game had to be stopped due to bad weather. After lunch, the game was stopped again when the rain continued.
Assam, putting into bat, soon found itself in a precarious condition when UP pacers dented their innings. The Visitors received their first jolt when Kunal Tyagi picked the wicket of Pervez Musharraf for 2. He hold his defence and uprooted his stump. Thereafter, the wickets fell at regular intervals and Assam reduced 6 for 52 in 27 overs. Opener Nibir Deka scored the highest 13 runs so far .He was bowled by Purnank Tyagi.
He also claimed the wickets of Dennis Dass and captain Sahil Jain cheaply. At close, Rituraj and Abdul Aziz Kuraishi were batting on 10 and 1 runs respectively.
