Ludhiana: Police arrested two persons after recovering an illegal weapon and a toy pistol from them. The accused were identified as 24-year-old Ankit Kumar and Shivam Kumar (19), both from
Uttar Pradesh and presently living at Sarpanch Colony in Tajpur village.
In-charge, Ramgarh police post, ASI Surjit Singh said the police acted on a tip-off that the accused were at Mehlon crossing carrying illegal weapons. Police conducted raids and arrested the accused, from whom they recovered a .32 bore pistol with 10 live cartridges as well as a toy pistol.
Police said that during preliminary probe, the accused revealed that they had brought the weapon from Uttar Pradesh in order to threaten people. They added that the accused, Ankit was involved in a previous case of carrying illegal weapons and was in the habit of threatening people during fights. Police said that a case under sections of Arms Act was registered. tnn
