    Indian Navy gets major boost, Submarine INS Vagir gets commissioned

    In a boost to Indian Navy's fire power, INS Vagir, the fifth submarine of the Kalvari Class submarines, was commissioned into the service today. INS Vagir is built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders with the help of technology transfer from France's Naval Group. The submarine is built under Project-75, which includes the indigenous construction of six submarines of Scorpene design. Four of the Kalvari class of submarines have already been commissioned into the Indian Navy.

    Two IEDs destroyed by police, armed forces, in controlled explosion in J&K's Rajouri district.

    Two IEDs were destroyed in a controlled explosion in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, a senior police officer said on Monday. The IEDs, or Improvised Explosive Devices, were recovered during a joint operation by police, army, and CRPF from Dassal village, 4 kms from Rajouri town, Sunday evening, the officer said. He said the IEDs were located on an intelligence input. They were destroyed in a controlled explosion by the bomb disposal squad in the Chingus forest area, 30 kms away from the town.

    Twelve people were shot and injured at a nightclub in Baton Rouge, capital city of the US state of Louisiana. Three of the injured were in critical condition and were rushed to the hospital, Xinhua news agency quoted local media reports as saying. On Sunday evening, police spokesman L'Jean McKneely Jr. said all the injured were in stable condition. The shooting occurred at the Dior Bar and Lounge around 1.30 a.m., said McKneely.
