Kanpur: Panic prevailed after a major fire broke out on the fourth floor of Legend Hotel in the Fazalganj area of the city on Sunday morning.
However, following timely evacuation of guests and staff of the hotel, no incident of any kind of eventuality has been reported. As soon as the information about the incident was received, five fire tenders from Fazalganj, Cantonment and Kidwai Nagar fire stations reached the spot and brought the blaze under control. A police team from Fazalganj police station also reached the spot and assisted the firemen in the rescue operation. The hotel which has 40 rooms belongs to a local resident Gagan Deep Sethi. The fire broke out in the hotel at around 10:30 am, the police said and added.
“At the time of the incident, eight guests were present in the hotel. Also, some renovation work was underway on its fourth floor. The fire destroyed furniture and mattresses. As per preliminary findings, the fire broke out due to a short circuit. Firefighters have brought the fire under control. There has been no loss of life.” tnn
