The Mission-Aransas Reserve shares unique finds along the Texas Gulf Coast regularly. On Monday, Jan. 23, Jace Tunnell from the research group found a massive American eel and shared information about the fish.

The American eel is more commonly found in rivers and estuaries and not in coastal waters, Tunnell explained,  commenting on its sheer massive size and saying, "this is about as big as they can get."

Tunnell picked up the eel, and its length sprawled over four feet. The post read, "Have you ever seen an American eel up close or read about their wildlife cycle of living in freshwater and then going out into the ocean to spawn 4 million eggs right before dying?"

Here's the Mission-Aransas Reserve Facebook post sharing the American eel find.
