Stock market update: Sugar stocks down as market rises

NEW DELHI: Sugar shares closed higher in the Monday's session.

EID Parry(up 0.28%) and Bannari Amman Sugars(up 0.16%) stood among the top gainers.

Ponni Sugars(Erode)(down 8.21%), Simbhaoli Sugars(down 4.41%), Rana Sugars(down 3.64%), Sakthi Sugars(down 2.75%), & Chemicals(down 2.65%), Uttam Sugar Mills(down 2.63%), K.M.Sugar Mills(down 2.59%), BAJAJHIND(down 2.54%), Mawana Sugars(down 2.51%) and & Chemicals(down 2.13%) were among the top losers of the day.

The NSE Nifty50 index ended 90.9 points up at 18118.55, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed up 319.9 points at 60941.67.

Hindustan Unilever(up 1.87%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(up 1.84%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.8%), Eicher Motors(up 1.68%), UPL Ltd(up 1.58%), Tata Consultancy(up 1.54%), Infosys(up 1.47%), Bajaj Auto(up 1.42%), State Bank of India(up 1.39%) and Coal India(up 1.37%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, UltraTech Cement(down 4.56%), Grasim Industries(down 1.45%), NTPC(down 1.1%), JSW Steel(down 1.01%), Tata Steel(down 0.77%), Larsen & Toubro(down 0.73%), Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone(down 0.7%), Adani Enterprises(down 0.57%), Reliance Industries(down 0.51%) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(down 0.29%) closed in the red.
