Ranchi: Members of the Moolvasi Sadan Morcha (MSM) on Sunday took out a motorcycle rally and launched their flag in the city to demand their appropriate share in politics and reservation in government jobs.
MSM president Rajendra
Prasad said the Sadans (Moolvasis/original settlers) comprising the oldest natives of Jharkhand played significant roles in the freedom struggle and the movement for a separate state but they are now being treated as second-class citizens in the state. He said the Sadans would no longer tolerate their neglect by the political parties. “On February 19, a massive rally will be held in Simdega, which would be followed by similar events in other parts of the state,” he said.
Demanding that the Sadans should get tickets in the 2024 general election and the state assembly polls, Prasad said their organisation will defeat those candidates who have migrated here from other states in the polls. He also said they would support the candidate who is nominated after taking them into confidence in the Ramgarh assembly by-election.
“If the Sadans do not get their due share in politics, the MSM would convert itself into a political party to fight the elections. The fight for Jharkhand came due to neglect of the local population, which comprises mostly of the Sadans,” he claimed. Prasad appealed to the community members to unfurl the Sadani flag irrespective of their political affiliations.
Other speakers at the event said the Sadans are residents of the state since ancient times but are losing their identity due to the “government’s policies”.
Later, the MSM members took out the bike rally from Kokar to Kutchery More in Ranchi. They also put up their flags at the Albert Ekka Chowk on their way. Representatives from Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Deoghar, Garwah, Daltonganj, Khunti, Bokaro, Giridih, Lohardaga, East Singhbhum, Ranchi, Hazaribag and Latehar took part in an MSM function here.
