PUNE: Very light winter rain is likely in parts of the state, especially in areas of Vidarbha and north Madhya Maharashtra, in the coming days, Anupam Kashyapi, the head of the weather forecasting division of IMD, Pune, said. In Shivajinagar, minimums are likely to rise up to 15°C by Republic Day.
"Another active western disturbance is now seen as an upper air cyclonic circulation over Afghanistan and its neighbourhood with associated trough aloft. It's very likely to slowly move eastwards. There is also high moisture feeding from Arabian Sea into western Himalayan region during January 23-27 period," he said.
Kashyapi said, "There could be a rise in cloud amount in parts of north-central Maharashtra during this period due to the interaction of southerly and northerly winds."
He said very light to light rain also cannot be ruled out, especially in areas of Vidarbha, north Madhya Maharashtra and north Marathwada during that period. "At the same time, while minimum temperatures would show an increasing tendency, the daytime temperatures are likely to fall in the coming days due to cloudy skies," he said.
In Shivajinagar, minimums are likely to rise up to 15°C by Republic Day, while in Lohegaon and Pashan, it may go up to 16°C.
