PUNE: The admission process for the 25% reserved seats in the entry-level classes of private primary schools, as mandated under the Right to Education Act, will start on Monday.
In the first phase, schools will have to be registered on the RTE portal. This process will continue till February 3. Subsequently, the schedule for registering students will be announced. Officials have requested parents to keep the all required documents ready to avoid any last-minute hurdles that may hamper their child's admission.
"Students who have already taken admission under the 25% RTE quota cannot reapply. Also, if it is found that wrong information has been filled in the application form, the admission will be cancelled. Parents should ensure that they fill out only one application and not multiple applications. If multiple applications are found under the child's name, we will cancel them," said Sharad Gosavi, director of the state primary education.
As per the RTE Act, 25% seats are reserved in the entry-level classes of private and aided schools for children belonging to socially, economically, and physically disadvantaged categories. The students who get admission under these categories do not have to pay fees till they pass Class VIII.
The official instructions also ask schools to give three chances to parents to confirm their admission. "It is possible that some parents have shifted to their native village or to other places. So if the parents do not come on the given date, they should be given another date. In case of non-attendance on the date given for the second time, a date should be given for the third time. This way, parents should be given three chances. The school should contact the parents to admit the children," said the notification.
The notification also warned against fake address proofs given by parents to secure admission under the 25% RTE quota. "The tenancy agreement should be prior to the date of filling the form and its duration should be 11 months or more. The copy of the tenancy agreement attached as proof can be verified at any time.
If it is found that the child/parent does not reside in the place mentioned in the tenancy agreement, legal action will be taken against the parent and the admission of the child will be cancelled. All the fees will have to be paid by the parent concerned even if the child is admitted under the RTE," added the notification. Any of these can be considered proof of residence: Ration card, driving licence, electricity/telephone payment bill, Aadhaar card etc.
