Chamarajanagar constable attempts suicide

MYSURU/MANDYA: A Chamarajanagar district police constable, who was facing a suspension order on charges of dereliction of duty, allegedly attempted to commit suicide by setting himself ablaze in an incident that occurred in front of the office of Chamarajanagar district police superintendent on Friday.
H R Mahesh, who is from Ramanahalli of Hassan district, is now undergoing treatment at Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences. He is out of danger now.
Chamarajanagar SP T P Shivakumar said he suspended seven police constables and even transferred them, including Mahesh for dereliction of duty, for not maintaining beat protocol, and other illegal activities in their police station limits. “I have asked senior officers to submit a report on the incident,” the SP said.
Biker killed in road mishap
A biker died in a road accident in Mandya town late on Friday. He died in the hospital due to injuries sustained in the accident, police said.
Beeraiah, 45, from Mellahalli village of Bharathinagara, Maddur, died after he was hit by another bike. The accident happened while he was travelling to Mandya from his native. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital, where he died later.
