PATNA: A hotel operator in the city sustained serious injuries after the unknown assailants fired five bullets at him at his residence in Phulwarisharif area during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. The injured man, identified as Rajeev Anand (36), was admitted to a private hospital in Raja Bazaar.
The incident took place around 2.30am in Purnedu Nagar, Bank Colony under Phulwarisharif police station area, when the victim went to the bathroom, which was located on the terrace at his home. The armed assailants waiting there attacked him and fired five rounds at him, and he sustained four bullet injuries. Hearing the gunshot, the family members reached to the spot and found Anand lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to the hospital.
The police have recovered five empty cartridges from the spot and the mobile phone of Anand, who runs a small hotel at Jagdeo Path.
Patna SSP Manavjit Singh Dhillon told this newspaper that Anand knows the person, who shot him outside his bathroom during the night around 2.30am. “No arresting has been made yet. The police will record the statement of the injured person, following which further action will be taken. The man sustained bullet injuries at elbow, hand, leg and back. His condition is stable,” he said.
Sanjay Kumar, father of Anand told the police that his son came home at 9.30pm from the hotel located on Jagdeo Path and went to sleep in his room after having dinner.
