GUMLA: A couple sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment after a wild boar attacked them in the district late on Friday afternoon. The boar ran away only after the woman attacked it away to save her husband, forest officials said on Saturday.
The incident occurred in a forest near the Pakatoli village under the Albert Ekka police station when the duo had gone to collect firewood.
Those injured are identified as Shankar Kherwar (40) and his wife Sarita Devi (36). They are undergoing treatment at the sadar hospital here. As the wild boar attacked her husband, Sarita tried to save him by hitting the animal with an axe, forcing it to retreat to the forest.
According to Shankar, as they were picking firewood, when a wild boar suddenly appeared and attacked them.
