Rider attends nature's call, gets robbed of Rs 43,000 in Pune

PUNE: The Dehu Road police are searching for three men, who assaulted and robbed a 32-year-old man of his cellphone and scooter, collectively valued at Rs43,000, after he had stopped alongside the Pune-Mumbai highway for a loo break on Wednesday night.
Dhiraj Shahi of Mamurdi who works as a watchman at a housing society near Dehu Road, has filed a complaint with the Pimpri Chinchwad police.
"On Wednesday night, he was returning to Mamurdi on his scooter and stopped along the Pune-Mumbai highway near a restaurant to answer nature's call, an officer from Dehu Road police said.
He added, "Three men on a motorcycle stopped near him and beat Shahi. When he started to resist, one of them threatened him with a knife."
According to the police officer, the trio then snatched Shahi's cellphone and one of them took charge of his scooter. The trio then fled from there. "We have obtained CCTV footage from the neighbouring restaurant and are working on some clues." the officer said.
