Mangaluru: The sixth edition of Mangaluru Kambala will be held under the leadership of Talapady Doddamane Capt Brijesh Chowta at Goldfinch City, Bangra Kulur, on January 22. Chowta told reporters here on Friday that the event will be held to protect the traditional sport of Tulunadu.
“Mangaluru Kambala is an effort to protect our culture and tradition. ‘Colour koota’, a drawing competition, will be organised for children, thereby introducing the tradition of kambala to the young generation. Children aged above six years may take part in the competition. All will be given participation mementos and prizes for winners. Children should create paintings based on their experience watching the kambala,” he said.
MRG group chairman K Prakash Shetty will preside over Mangaluru Kambala, which will commence at 8.15am on January 22. A public meeting will be held at 6.30pm on the same day, and prizes to winners of the kambala event will be distributed on January 23 morning.
