AMBALA: Haryana home minister Anil Vij visited the Ambala Central Jail on Friday, where a woman inmate had suffered a bullet injury in her leg a few days ago.
During his visit, Vij recreated the scene of crime inside the jail premises.
The cops are still clueless about how a bullet hit the woman inmate who was sitting in an open air barrack inside the jail premises on Wednesday.
Vij also asked the investigating team to conduct a probe inside the jail.
Vij was accompanied by jail superintendent (SP) Sanjeev Patar, SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa, ballistic experts and other teams.
“This case is challenging but our police are working to solve it. The woman has been hit by a bullet inside the jail and the matter is being investigated. After the woman is declared fit, she would also be brought to the crime scene to ascertain as to which direction the bullet came from,” Vij said.
“Orders have been given to search entire jail premises. It is not yet established how the bullet hit the woman. A special investigation team has been formed to probe the matter,” vij said.
