Man hacks sister over argument

Thiruvananthapuram: A 59-year-old man was arrested by Pangode police on Thursday for assaulting his sister over an argument on who will take care of their mother.
Sathyasheelan son of Pachan of Kannampara near Kallara was arrested by police for assaulting his sister Sheela (50). According to police, Sathyasheelan and Sheela are neighbours and their mother Kunji (80) was taken care of by Sheela. They used to quarrel with each other over taking care of the mother.
On Wednesday, when Sathyasheelan went to tap rubber behind his house, Sheela requested him to shift their mother to his house for a few months due to some difficulty she is having at home. However, it was not acceptable for him and a heated exchange happened between them.
Annoyed by it, Sathysheelan hacked her hand using a knife he was carrying. Sheela was soon rushed to a hospital. Later she filed a case with Pangode police.
The police have registered a case against Sathysheelan under section 307 of IPC for attempt to murder and 324 for voluntarily causing hurt using a weapon and he had been remanded after producing before a court. TNN
