Nagpur: An 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver, Yogesh Damaye, was killed while at least four others were seriously injured during a group clash at Kundanlal Gupta Nagar on Thursday. The condition of one of the injured persons, Rambhau Sahu, who is a criminal on record, is said to be critical.
It’s learnt, around four days back Damaye had an altercation with his rivals over parking e-rickshaw at Indira Gandhi Nagar slum. They had vowed to teach each other a lesson.
Prior to the murder, Damaye was thrashed by his rival. Damaye had sought Sahu’s help to counter the rivals. Sahu was beaten up during the clash and sustained serious injuries.
Damaye and Sahu’s friends too assaulted his rivals leaving some of them injured too.
An offence was registered at Yashodhara Nagar police station for murder and rioting among others.
Police have identified the assailants as Monu Rayatdar, his brother Sudama and their uncle Nandlal.
It was Monu and Damaye who first got into a fight which was later joined by others from their respective groups, said cops.
