Length of Northern Ring Road to be increased by 20km to skip eco zone
Jaipur: The district collectorate is acquiring land for the Northern Ring Road project based on a revised detailed project report (DPR) proposed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). Under the revised DPR, the length of the road will increase by 20km to bypass the ecological zones that fall under the alignment of the original DPR under the master plan 2025.
Officials said it was sometime in 2017 when Jaipur Development Authority first proposed a realignment of the Ring Road to avoid the ecological zone. In accordance, the NHAI floated a revised DPR that increased the size of the Ring Road from 76 km to 96 km. This increase in size of the road was accepted so that the road did not have any connection with the ecological zone.
“At present, we don’t have any issues with the Northern Ring Road as those are related to ecological zone,” Ajay Arya, project director of NHAI, told TOI.
Officials at the district collectorate said the district administration is acquiring land based on this revised DPR only.
“To create a 45-km long stretch between Bagrana village in Jaipur tehsil to Chaump village in Amer tehsil, we will acquire a land measuring around 389 hectares. No portion of this land is under the ecological zone. So, land acquisition won’t be a major problem for this project,” said an official.
The district administration has identified six villages of Jaipur tehsil, 14 villages of Amer tehsil and 14 villages of Jamvaramgarh for this project.
“A portion of this Jamvaramgarh area falls under the ecological zone. However, the realignment has been made in such way that the road won’t pass through the ecological zone,” an official added.
Under the proceedings of land acquisition, the proposal of Section 3 (A) of the Act has been sent by the additional district collector II to the National Highway Authority on January 13, 2023, which will soon be published in the Gazette of India.
