Horrible Act: Dog chained to bike, dragged along road in Bihar's Gaya
GAYA: A man has been booked for allegedly inflicting cruelty on a dog by dragging it on the road after tying the animal to a bike with an iron chain, in Gaya town. Police have registered an FIR after a video showing the cruelty went viral on social media platform on Tuesday.
“After the viral video of dragging a dog came to our notice, DSP (city) Parasnath Sahu was asked to get an FIR lodged against the guilty man under prevention of cruelty to animals Act 1960 and under section 429 of Indian penal code (IPC). Police are trying to trace the accused on the basis of registration number of his bike,” said Gaya SSP Ashish Bharti, adding the case has been lodged with Civil Lines police station in this connection.
Neha Kumari, a volunteer of Dhyan Foundation, working for rescue of animals in Gaya, said one Vishal Roy from Gaya sent the video to Delhi-based organisation, People for Animals (PFA), founded by former Union minister Maneka Gandhi. She forwarded the video to a high court advocate, Shashank Shekhar (associated with PFA) for rescue of the dog. Following the initiative of Shashank, members of B-Hope, another voluntary organisation, rescued the dog, she said.The video was captured by another man, who while driving his car noticed the man dragging the dog on the road. The dog had sustained injuries and was bleeding too. When the man driving the car stopped the motorcyclist near Gandhi Maidan and questioned why he was dragging his pet, he replied, "I had taken the dog out for a walk".
According to police, the accused man was coming from Delha locality from where the distance of Gandhi Maidan is around one kilometre. The dog refused to go on morning walk with his master. Angered by this behaviour, the man dragged the pet on the road tied with his bike.
