Puttur police nab 24-year-old within 24 hours of murder

Mangaluru: A team from Puttur Rural police station arrested a 24-year-old man on Wednesday for allegedly hacking a woman to death at her house in Mundoor in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
Dakshina Kannada SP Rishikesh Sonawane said the accused is Umesh, from Kanakamajalu in Sullia. The police seized the weapon and the scooter used to reach the spot and other items within 24 hours of the crime being reported. Jayashree, 23, a BSc graduate was hacked to death on Tuesday. The family suspected the accused as it was learnt that the victim was allegedly in love with him. In November 2022, Jayashree decided to distance herself from him because she did not like his behaviour. Enraged, Umesh is suspected to have killed her. tnn
