Held with phone, jail inmate threatens cop

Ludhiana: A jail inmate has been booked for threatening a cop as the latter nabbed him with a mobile phone after his court hearing in Ludhiana on Tuesday. The accused was identified as Chashamjit Singh alias Jashanpreet of Jagraon.
ASI Karamjit Singh who is deputed at Ludhiana Police Lines said he was on duty to bring Ludhiana jail inmates for their court hearings. All the jail inmates were lodged at ‘bakhshikhana’ (a lockup in the courts complex). Inmate Chashamjit was taken for his court hearing and when he returned, he was checked thoroughly and was found to be carrying a mobile phone in his pocket. On being caught, the inmate abused the cops and threatened him of dire consequences. tnn
