Shares of TVS Motor Company(up 1.2 per cent), Bosch(up 0.46 per cent), MRF(up 0.32 per cent), Bharat Forge(up 0.18 per cent) and Maruti Suzuki(up 0.09 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, Tata Motors(down 1.87 per cent), TIINDIA(down 1.5 per cent), Sona BLW Precision Forgings(down 1.48 per cent), Ashok Leyland(down 0.98 per cent) and Bajaj Auto(down 0.94 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Auto index closed 0.43 per cent down at 12763.0.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 57.5 points at 18107.85, while the BSE Sensex stood down 187.31 points at 60858.43.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 19 ended in the green, while 31 closed in the red.
Shares of , , SAIL, PNB and Zomato Ltd. were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of , , , GRP Ltd and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while ., , Vikas Proppant & Gr, Anlon Technology . and Chaman Metallics Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
