ED summons Sahibganj DC
Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) issued summons to Sahibganj deputy commissioner (DC) Ramnaresh Yadav in connection with the Rs 1,000 crore illegal mining and money laundering in the district.
Sources said that the DC has been asked to appear before ED’s zonal office in Hinoo on January 23. It may be stated here that the DC heads the task force responsible for curbing illegal mining in the district.
Chief minister Hemant Soren’s Barhait constituency representative Pankaj Mishra is a key accused in the illegal mining and money laundering case. The ED has claimed that Mishra, who has a political clout, controlled illegal mining businesses as well as inland ferry services in Sahibganj and its adjoining areas through his accomplices.
The DC’s role had also come under the lens during the ferry disaster near Manihari ghat on the Ganga river in March 2022. The then Santhal Paragana commissioner Chandra Mohan Kashyap had raised objections to Yadav’s report on the incident and sought information on reasons for the accident and the guilty persons.
