Simha visits logistic park project site
Mysuru: MP Pratap Simha on Wednesday stated that works of the CONCOR Multimodal Logistic Park (MCD) which is coming up at Kadakola will be completed by December. This MCD is coming up in the Himmavu industrial area. It is the second such park in the state after the one in Bengaluru.
Simha visited the project site and directed officials to complete the works at the earliest. He said that though this project was sanctioned in 2015-16, it is delayed due to various reasons including land acquisition. He added that the project is expected to help import and export activities besides extending logistic support for local industries.
Ministers to inaugurate slew of Cesc projects tomorrow
Mysuru: Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (Cesc) managing director Jayavibhava Swamy on Wednesday said that state power minister V Sunil Kumar and Mysuru district in-charge minister ST Somashekhar were slated to inaugurate a slew of development projects initiated jointly by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd (KPTCL) and Cesc on Friday. The cumulative cost of these projects is estimated to be Rs 116.2 crore, he said, adding former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, and Chamaraja MLA L Nagendra would also be in attendance at the event at Maharaja’s Colleg Grounds. The projects Cesc and KPTCL were working on would benefit Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, and Kodagu districts, he said.
NAAC team visits women’s college in Mandya
Mandya: A three-member peer team of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on Wednesday started its two-day visit to the Government First Grade College for Women. It will accredit the institution, which is slated to be upgraded into a university. The NAAC accreditation is valid for five years. The NAAC team consists of chairperson Madan Mohan Goel, a former VC from Haryana and members Geeta Balakrishnan and Nagajyothi Koripella.
Govt encouraging cultivation of millets, says BC Patil
Mysuru: The state government has given importance to the production of nutritional supplement crops along with fulfilling food security needs of the people, said agriculture minister BC Patil on Wednesday. Speaking after inaugurating a millet mela organized jointly by the department of agriculture and the zilla panchayat at Dasara Exhibition grounds here, he said the state government has been providing Rs 10000 per acre as incentive to farmers to take up chemical-free millet cultivation. He also said diseases like diabetes and blood pressure are caused by consumption of crops grown with excessive use of chemicals and fertilizers.
Training programme at
coffee institute tomorrow
Chikkamagaluru: The Central Coffee Research Institute (CCRI), Balehonnur, is organising a training session on ‘Coffee Nursery Seedling Raising Techniques’ at its campus on Friday. The primary objective of the training session is to help heighten planters’ awareness on technology, to produce vigorous and healthy coffee seedlings that are free of diseases. The organisers said that the event would be a capacity-building event aimed at planters, co-operative nurseries, and even entrepreneurs.
Satyagraha on January 29 seeking efficient governance
Mysuru: Intent on impressing on the government the need to ensure effcient administration at all echelons, many like-minded NGOs banding together have decided to observe ‘Satyagraha’ in Mysuru city on January 29. The satyagraha will be led by Mysore Grahakara Parishat. The event will be held at a park, starting at 9am, and concluding at 6pm. In a statement released to the press by the parishat, the organisers have appealed to all Mysureans not to use vehicles for the entire duration of the Satyagraha. Mysureans have been asked not to go shopping or visit restaurants, calling on the residents to observe a self-imposed lockdown, much like the one they endured during the pandemic. Those seriously concerned about the poor state of governance in civic agencies, and the apathetic attitude of the government to pressing issues such as roads, water supply, et al, were welcome to join the activists at the venue, the statement read.
