Prayagraj: As many as 195 candidates have filed their nominations for 28 posts of office bearers of Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA), the polling for which is scheduled on January 30.
A voter list of 8,500 lawyers have been announced, who will exercise their franchise in the forthcoming election. Addressing the media on Wednesday, chief returning officer Anil Bhushan, returning officers Vashistha Tiwari and Mahendra Bahadur Singh said nomination papers of candidates would be scrutinized on Wednesday and objections invited on January 19. Thereafter, a final list of candidates will be announced on January 20. The returning officers said polling will be held from 10 am to 5 pm on January 30 in the cricket ground of high court. Sloganeering and distribution of pamphlets inside the high court campus have been banned. In addition to it, a complete ban has also been imposed on meetings of lawyers at public places in the city. The team of returning officer has warned that disciplinary action will be taken if any candidate or his supporters is found to be involved in sloganeering inside the HC campus.
