Man gets life term for raping minor

Berhampur: A special Pocso court in Berhampur on Wednesday sentenced a 28-year-old man to rigorous imprisonment for life for raping a 10-year-old girl after kidnapping her from her home in Ganjam district, five years ago.
Judge Ganeshwar Pati also directed the district legal services authority to provide a compensation of Rs 6 lakh to the survivor, said Mohan Singari, special public prosecutor. Kalia Patra was convicted after recording the statement of 21 witnesses and based on medical reports, he added.
Trial of another two minor accused, allegedly involved in the crime, is going on in juvenile court, he further said. The three had entered the house of the girl to commit dacoity.
