Special girdawari of damaged crops in Barmer & Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer: Special girdawari of crops damaged due to cold wave and ground frost will be done in Barmer and Jaisalmer districts. Following directions from the revenue board Ajmer, district collectors of both districts directed special girdawari so that the extent of damage caused to crops can be known.
Confirming this, Jaisalmer district collector Tina Dabi said that on January 17, the revenue board Ajmer gave the approval for the Girdawari to estimate the damaged Rabi crops. After this, all tehsildars were ordered to do the survey of crop damage. The tehsildars within 7 days will ensure sending the report to the district collector.
Barmer district collector Lok Bandhu said that as per the directions of the state government girdawari will be done and a report will be submitted at the earliest. The report will be sent to disaster management and relief and civil defence so that affected farmers can be given compensation. For the last few days,both districts have been experiencing severe cold.Due to cold waves and dip in temperature, there are incidents of ground frost, which has left the farmers in lurch.
The dew due to the cold wave is freezing to ice around the crops and farmers have suffered loss worth lakhs of rupees. BJP leaders visited many villages and took stock of the situation. TNN
