JAIPUR: Six school kids sustained injuries after a private school bus hit a truck at an intersection in Nadbai area of the Bharatpur Wednesday.
SHO (Nadbai) Ramawtar Meena said that six kids were taken to RMB Government Hospital of the district. “Four kids were discharged after the treatment,” he said.
The police said that the accident took place at an intersection when the bus hit the rear of the truck.
District collector Alok Ranjan said that a departmental action will be taken against the district education officer for primary education, and the chief block education officer. The district collector had issued a vacation from Saturday to Wednesday for students from Classes 1 to 8 on account of severe cold conditions in the region. The collector had also direction officers including that of the education department to ensure that directions are followed.
The private school, however, flouted the norms and started the school. Ranjan also directed transport and police officials to ensure that all school buses follow the safety rules so that such incidents could be averted. The police said that action may also be taken against the school for flouting the collector’s orders to begin school under severe cold conditions.A team of district administration and police officials reached the accident spot to examine how the mishap took place. The officials also said that the bus driver also sustained some injuries in the accident.
The accident sparked panic among students and their parents. Several locals rushed to the scene to rescue the kids, they also alerted the local police station about the same.
The students were first taken to a community health centre (CHC) nearby. Some students were discharged after the initial treatment, while six of them were referred to Bharatpur for better treatment.
The police said that all students in stable condition even as an FIR would be filed in the case soon.
