GURUGRAM: As many as 27 people, including 16 women, were detained on Tuesday for allegedly running a sex racket from two different spa centre's in the city.
However, the women who were detained were released after questioning, while the 11 men were arrested. They have been identified as owners Ramesh Kumar, Umesh Arora, managers Jabaiedur Rehman and Mobinoor Islam and seven customers.
According to the police, both the spa centres are located in Sector 29.
Police said, the 16 women who were arrested are natives of Thailand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal.
In a release, the Gurugram police claimed that a special cell team led by DCP (east) Virender Vij got information that a sex racket was being run by the owners of two different Spa centre's in Sector 29. "After getting information, two decoy customers were sent to both the spa centre's to collect detailed information. We raided the spa centres immediately. In the first spa, the team arrested manager Mobinoor Islam, who told the police that the owners are Ramesh Kumar and Umesh Arora. Similarly, when the team raided the second spa, manager Jabaiedur Rehman told the police that the owners are Ramesh and Umesh. We later arrested both the owners from the same location. During the arrest of the managers, both confirmed about prostitution in both the centre," an officer said.
An officer said that they have registered an FIR under immoral trafficking act and further investigation is on. "We have registered a case and arrested 11 people," officers said.
