Execs appeal to President to rescue HEC
Ranchi: The striking executives along with the nearly 3,000 workers and contractual workers of Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd.(HEC) on Tuesday sent a letter to President Droupadi Murmu, imploring her to take up the HEC issue with the Union government and save it and its hungry work force.
“In 1958, the HEC was the first mother industry to be set up in India. Over the past five decades, the HEC has been contributing heavily to the country’s iron and steel mining, railway, power, defense, nuclear energy, space research and other vital sectors. Yet, the HEC executives have not been paid their salaries for the past 14 months, while the workers have not been paid wages for the past 11 months,” the letter said.
“You are our last hope. We are confident that you would give serious thoughts to all the issues raised in this letter,” the letter to the President said. Copies of the letter have been marked to the Prime Minister, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and many others.
