Thunivu' featuring Ajith as a baddie has its theatrical release on Jan 11, and the film peaked at the box office on its opening day. The action drama continues to get solid responses from fans and audiences. As per the reports, 'Thunivu' box office collection by the end of day seven stands at around Rs.160 crores globally, while the film has reportedly earned Rs 80 crores in Tamil Nadu. Ajith's film is also performing well in overseas locations and it has become the actor's all-time best collection in the opening weekend.

The domestic collection of 'Thunivu' has successfully breached Rs.100 crores and the film is estimated to have earned around Rs 120 to Rs.125 crores in India. Ajith's film is expected to reach Rs.200 crore in a couple of days. But the film has failed in the box office battle with 'Varisu' as the Vijay starrer has earned more than this Ajith's filmr in almost all the locations. 'Varisu' has reportedly earned Rs 190 crores at the end of week one while 'Thunivu' has earned less than over Rs25 crores to it.


Directed by H Vinoth, Ajith and Manju Warrier play the main roles in 'Thunivu' and they take on a mission to send a message to fans about banking scams. John Kokken, Samuthirakani, Mohana Sundaram, Veera, and Darshan have made an impression with their respective roles, while composer Ghibran delivered his best for the film to energize fans with the background score.
