Bodies of woman, son found in water tank in Rajasthan's Barmer

JAISALMER: A 24-year-old woman and her 3-year-old son died suspiciously in Gida police station area in Barmer on Monday.
Bodies were found in a water tank. Police reached the spot and took out the bodies in the presence of woman’s parents and in-laws. Postmortem was done on Tuesday and bodies were handed over to the family members.
There were deep marks of injuries on her body. Police are investigating the case from all angles. Her parents have alleged murder. Police lodging a case have started the investigation which is being done by Baytu deputy SP.
According to police, the woman and her son died by drowning.
Reportedly, Mohini and her husband Krishna Kumar had a fight a few days back.
On Sunday night, the husband was not at home. When he reached at night, his wife and son were not there. He searched for them and found the footprints going towards the water tank and found the body of Tarun floating.
Lakshman Kumar, brother of the deceased, gave a report that his sister Mohini was married to Krishna on July 17, 2018. At the time of marriage, 70gm gold and 30gm silver was given to the groom.
Recently, Krishna had taken a loan of Rs 13.22 lakh and he and his family were harassing his wife for dowry.
On January 11, 2023, Krishna, his mother Dami, father Mukanram and grandfather Khartharam beat Mohini with sticks and chains.
Gida SHO Bagduram said that the woman’s brother gave a report of dowry harassment and murder.
Police have handed over the bodies to family members after postmortem by the medical board. Baytu deputy SP Jagguram is investigating the case.
Jagguram said that a case has been lodged under sections 304 B and 498. Further investigation is on.
