GURUGRAM: Two RWAs of Malibu Towne are at loggerheads over the installation of a boom barrier at the entrance of the society.
Malibu Condominium Residents Welfare Association (MCRWA) has alleged that the Malibu Twin Tower Residents Welfare Association (MTTRWA) is illegally trying to install the boom barrier at the entrance of towers 1 and 2, which will block the access of the residents of towers 3 to 6 to many common areas, including the park and other project infrastructure.
Formed in 2005, MCRWA took over the maintenance of the township from the builder in February 2021. And the aggrieved residents — some 300 families — claimed that the builder-buyer agreement gives them full access to all the common areas on either side of the bundh road. These residents have already filed a police complaint against MTTRWA.
MC Srivastava, general secretary of MCRWA, said, “We have been managing the day-to-day affairs of the society since 2021. Some people in towers 1 and 2 formed MTTRWA illegally in 2019 and forcibly took over the partial maintenance of the common areas of the towers. Now they are trying to restrict the common area usage in the condominium.”
The aggrieved residents on Sunday gathered at the site and even the local police were called to stop the installation of the boom barrier. Pradeep Kumar Mehta, a resident, said, “Parks, children’s play area, power back-up facility are all in the towers 1 and 2 side of the society and any kind of restriction is completely unacceptable.”
MTTRWA members, however, refuted the allegation as “baseless”. Prasun Nigam, general secretary of MTTRWA, said, “There were several irregularities in the functioning of MCRWA, which forced the residents of towers 1 and 2 to form another RWA in 2019. Even they had taken over the society from the builder without getting the consent of the residents, despite many discrepancies in the project.”
“We are installing the boom barrier only for safety as the existing one is not functioning properly,” he added.
