MANGALURU/ UDUPI: The Surathkal police arrested two supervisors on Sunday, on the charges of negligence, which led to the death of a labourer, and caused injuries to five others, after mud caved in on them, while they were working near a railway bridge at Chelyar on Thursday.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that the arrested accused are supervisors Mohan Vishnu Naika,44, and Nagaraj Narayana Naika,44. No precautionary measures were taken while carrying out the work at the site. Following a complaint of negligence, a case was registered.
MDMA seized, 4 heldOn getting reliable information, the Udupi police arrested four persons and seized six grams of MDMA, ganja and weapons on Friday. With this, the police have foiled a dacoity attempt, that was likely to take place under the influence of prohibited substances.
The accused were picked from VP Nagar in Manipal. The arrested accused are Muzamil,27, and Mohammed Anas Saheb,25, from Kaup, Mohammed Rafiq,26, from Shivalli in Udupi, and an 18-year-old boy from Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada. One more accused is absconding. The police seized a machete, knife, hammer, wooden log and five mobile phones, in addition to 6g of MDMA worth Rs 25,000 and 110g of ganja from the accused.
