MANGALURU: Columnist Sudheendra Kulkarni said RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat should ask swayam sevaks to stop their malicious campaign against Mahatma Gandhi.
Kulkarni, who was the director of operations of the prime minister’s Office during Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s tenure, was speaking here on Sunday after releasing a book on Mahatma Gandhi – ‘Minugu Nota’ by MG Hegde through Gandhi vichara vedike.
“While Mohan Bhagwat praises Gandhiji, RSS swayam sevaks are engaged in spreading misleading propaganda about him. Bhagwat should therefore advise swayam sevaks to stop such campaigns against Gandhiji. They allege that Gandhiji was responsible for the partition of India. They call Gandhiji anti-Hindu. In fact, the British and the Muslim League were responsible for the partition. Gandhiji was an ardent devotee of Sri Ram and considered the Bhagavad Gita his mother. He can never be called anti-Hindu,” he said.
Further, he said that misleading campaigns against Jawaharlal Nehru should also be stopped. “Those who malign Gandhiji have portrayed Nehru as a villain. Let them talk about the errors of Nehru but they should not forget his sacrifices and contributions he made for the nation during the pre-Independence and post-Independence periods,” Kulkarni said.
Writer MG Hegde, Gandhi vichara vedike president Shridhar G Bhide, members Anna Vinayachandra, Aravinda Chokkadi and BM Rohini were present.
