Jaipur: Windy weather has improved air quality in Jaipur from ‘poor’ to ‘satisfactory’ category within 24 hours. As per a Central
Pollution Control Board (CPCB) report, the city’s air had deteriorated to ‘poor’ category on Friday, but chilly winds sweeping across the city improved the air quality. The air quality index (AQI) in Jaipur shot up to 98 on Sunday from 212 on Friday.
The air quality in Jaipur was recorded ‘poor’ only on two days this month – January 8 and January 14, as per the CPCB reports.
Also in Delhi, the overall AQI improved on Saturday as per the AQI bulletin provided by CPCB. The winds helped remove pollution from city’s air and eventually improved the AQI significantly.
Keeping in view the remarkable improvement in the overall AQI of Delhi-NCR, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) sub-committee decided to roll back Stage-III of GRAP in the entire NCR with immediate effect.
Since temperatures have gone down significantly in Jaipur and across
Rajasthan, the state health department appealed to the people to take precautions to ward off risks of getting cold and other related health complications.
A health department official said people should take precautions especially in the night, when the temperatures go down. People with respiratory diseases are facing difficult times as their symptoms have aggravated due to the cold weather conditions.
