Student reversing car splatters mud, thrashed, stabbed in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: A group allegedly thrashed and stabbed an 18-year-old student outside his college on Saturday, apparently because his car drove over a puddle of mud, splattering it on to them.
Yashpal Singh, who is pursuing a diploma in education for teaching special needs students, said the incident took place outside SGT University in Chandu village of Gurugram around 3.15pm.
"I was reversing my car to go back home to Jhajjar after finishing my classes. Accidentally, some mud splattered on a person, who called himself Rocky. He first abused me, and then some 9-10 men dragged me out of the car and started beating me up. One of them stabbed me with a sharp-edged weapon and fled. They also threatened me with dire consequences before running away," Singh told cops.
Some passersby rushed the student to the nearby SGT Hospital, where he is being treated for multiple bruises and two stab wounds on his stomach. His condition is stable. Police said on Sunday the weapon may have been an ice-pick.
"We rushed to the spot after being informed about the incident. We have taken the student's statement and we are also checking CCTV footage of nearby areas to investigate the case. Doctors told our team Singh is out of danger," said inspector Praveen Kumar, of Rajendra Park police station.
An FIR has been registered against at least 10 people, including 'Rocky' and other unidentified accused. They have been booked under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
