Ludhiana: The Northern Railways have decided to increase the seat capacity in several superfast and passenger trains, many of which also pass through Ludhiana. The decision, as of now, has been taken for three months and will come into effect for some trains from January 14, and at later dates for some other trains.
According to a statement issued by the railways, “It is notified for the information of the general public that for the convenience of the rail passengers, railways have decided to augment the passenger carrying capacity of the following trains on temporary basis for three months.”
Some of the trains in which the increased capacity will come into effect, include 12241/12242 Chandigarh-Amritsar Express, in which two general coaches will be increased. Besides, 14506/14505 Nangal Dam-Amritsar Express will have five more general coaches, while 14507/14508 Delhi-Fazilka Intercity Express will have two more AC 3-tier coaches and one more general coach.
Three general coaches each have been increased in 04603/04604 Bathinda-Firozpur Cantt Passenger, 04464/04463 Firozpur Cantt-Ludhiana Passenger, 04555/04556 Ludhiana Lohian Khas passenger, 04648/04657 Firozpur Cantt-Bathinda Passenger, and 04570/04569 Kalka-Ambala passenger. One general coach has been increased in 04570/04569 Kalka-Ambala Cantt Passenger, as well.
Meanwhile in another development, due to new electronic interlocking and yard remodelling of Sahnewal Railway Station on Sahnewal-Ambala-Saharanpur section, several trains will remain affected between January 16-30.
