Belagavi ZP tops in state in MGNREGS man days

Belagavi: The zilla panchayat in Belagavi has topped in the state in creating the highest number of man days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
This is the third consecutive year that the Belagavi ZP has managed to pull this off.
According to ZP CEO HV Darshan, 1.02 crore man days were generated in 2022 till December. Even in 2020-21 and 2021-22, more than 1 crore man days were generated. A large number of man days were created for the labourers who migrated from Goa and Maharashtra.
“There are 500 gram panchayats in the districts and the MGNREG scheme has been implemented effectively at all panchayats. Till January 12, 2023, 7.85 lakh new job cards have been distributed and Rs 305.23 crore in wages distributed. This accomplishment has happened because of the effort of PDOs and other panchayat personnel,” the zilla panchayat CEO said.
