MYSURU/MANDYA: Former minister and BJP MLA SA Ramdas on Sunday said that Mysuru city which has emerged as a yoga hub must make all efforts to create a world record performing yoga with 1.5 lakh people at a time in the same venue. He was speaking after inaugurating Yogathon -2023 organised jointly by Mysuru district administration, Zilla panchayat, department of youth empowerment and
sports affairs, AYUSH, Nehru youth centre and NSS unit.

Baba Ramdev. Mysuru yoga association must make similar efforts to create a world record by performing yoga by 1.5 lakh people by inviting Ramdev to the city on international yoga day celebrations on June 21 this year, he said.
He also lauded the participants for attending the event, while braving the cold weather.
Deputy Commissioner K V Rajendra also lauded the organisers for conducting the event smoothly, despite the fact that it was delayed in the city. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's participation in International Yoga Day, the city's tourism has prospered, he said.
Deputy Mayor Rupa Yogesh, City police commissioner Ramesh Bhanot, Superintendent of police Seema Latkar, ZP CEO Poornima, deputy commissioner Loknath, Mysuru yoga federation chief Yogish and others were present.
Meanwhile, the Yogathon programme organised in Mandya attracted a huge crowd. Religious leader Purushottamananda Swami, who is attached to the Adichuchanagiri Mutt, launched the Yogathon organised by Mandya district administration at PET Cricket Stadium.
More than 8,000 people participated in the event which started at 7.45 am.
Participants were registered online. They were allowed to participate in the programme by scanning the QR code through a total of 8 gates.
Addressing the yogis, Mandya DC HN Gopalakrishna said that the Yogathon will be is being held simultaneously in 21 districts today. More than 10 lakh people have registered. Earlier, 1,08,000 yoga enthusiasts participated in the fort in Rajasthan and set a Guinness record. Today Karnataka is also trying to break Guinness records through Yogathon, he said.
