Shopkeeper thrashed by two at Noida's Atta Market, 1 held

NOIDA: A 38-year-old shopkeeper at Atta Market was thrashed by two men after he refused to take back clothes brought two months back and refund the money on January 12.
With the help of a CCTV footage, that went viral on social media, police nabbed one of the accused, identified as Harit Pandey, a resident of Sector 27, who has a vending shop in Atta Market on Saturday. The second accused is still absconding.
The footage shows the garment store owner, identified as Arosh Nanda (40) having a dispute with a female customer following which two men beat him with sticks. Nanda suffered fractures in his arms and severe head injuries and is undergoing treatment at Kailash hospital.
"A woman came to the store with a piece of cloth bought two months back and asked me to take it back and refund her the money. When refused, she threatened and went out. After some time a man came to the shop and lashed out. When that did not work he got another man and started beating me with sticks," Nanda said in his complaint.
"A case was registered under sections 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation)," said Rajneesh Verma, assistant commissioner of police Noida. After the complainant's medical examination, Section 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) was added to the FIR.
