Railway body looks for cos for stn upgrade
Gurgaon: The city railway station is all set to get a futuristic makeover to handle more trains and passengers. The Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA) has invited a request for proposal (RFP) for the “major upgrade” of the station at an investment of Rs 215 crore.
Officials said this station upgrade is a lighthouse project being developed on a modular concept in which pre-engineered and pre-fab construction shall be used to reduce the time taken to complete the same. The project is expected to be complete within 15 months.
Once the technique is established, it will be replicated on all the station development works to be carried out on the Indian Railways network.
The pre-bid meeting will be held on January 16 and the last date of e-bid submission is February 28, 2023. The station will be upgraded using an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) model. The upgraded station will have state-of-the-art lobbies, food court and paid lounge, apart from office and retail spaces.
Ved Parkash Dudeja, vice-chairman, RLDA, said, “The city is the most favoured destination for residential, retail and commercial development in Delhi-NCR. The station is being upgraded to support the city's growth.”
