JAIPUR: The state's finance department is in the process of disbursing money under the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to those who retired from services before April 1, 2022. The move is expected to benefit around 3,500 retired employees. Earlier, pension was disbursed to those employees who retired on and after that date.
Joint secretary finance (Rules) Syed Zainuddin Shahid said the issue pertaining to the ‘general revenue head' has been solved and the money will be disbursed in 3-4 days. "It was taking time to get permission from the accountant general (AG) for use of the ‘general revenue head'. So, we decided to use ‘pension head' for the purpose of depositing money," he said.
On September 6, the finance department had issued a circular asking the state government employees — appointed on and after January 1, 2004 — who had withdrawn the money under the New Pension Scheme (NPS) between April 1, 2022 and August 28, 2022 to return the money by December 31, 2022. The date has now been extended up to March 31, 2023. The old pension scheme was restored in the state from April 1.
Welcoming the decision, New Pension Scheme Employees' Federation of
Rajasthan (NPSEFR) state coordinator Vinod Kumar said, "Joint secretary finance told us that the department will issue guidelines to the insurance department. It will frame modalities on how to integrate insurance and pension in order to verify the amount to be deposited, and later disposal of pension amount."
