Cong prays to Mhadei at Uste, seeks its blessing in fight to save river, Goa

Valpoi: Congress on Sunday launched the ‘Mhadei Jagor’ campaign at Uste village in Sattari taluka. A Congress delegation from all over the state performed a puja and sought the blessings of the Mhadei for the success of the people's movement to save it.
Aldona MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira said that party members and others have come to Sattari as “Mother Mhadei” needs the Goans to save her. “There should be no political enemity. Our fellow Goans are not our enemies. Our enemy is the one who is trying to rob our Mhadei,” he said.
He urged Goans to save the Mhadei at any cost. “We all know the pain we feel when a mother dies in a family. This will be a similar feeling.”
Party president Amit Patkar said that if the Mhadei is diverted then all of Goa will be affected. “The resultant water scarcity will hit not only BJP, but all political parties, he said, calling on people to come forward in large numbers to join the campaign irrespective of their political affiliations.
