Varanasi: The Jaunpur police arrested an impostor posing as a sub-inspector with a beacon fitted SUV, 10 different Aadhaar cards, three stamp seals and a pair of police uniforms on Thursday night.
According to reports, during a checking drive on Bhadoh-Jaunpur Road, the police team led by Rampur SHO, Divya Prakash Singh spotted a beacon fitted vehicle coming from Bhadohi. When the policeman sitting in it was questioned, he gave his identity as Shailendra Kumar Bhardwaj of Buxar district (Bihar). On being interrogated he revealed that he used to collect money by wearing the police uniform and stopping trucks at night on the pretext of checking.
The impostor was booked under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly), 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (fraudulently or dishonestly uses as genuine any document which has reason to believe to be a forged), 171 (wearing grab or carrying token used by public servant with fraudulent intent) of IPC, said police adding that further legal action is being taken.
