Ensure success of Jana Dhwani Yatra: Cong
Mysuru: Senior Congress leaders on Friday tasked the local leaders in Hassan and Mandya to ensure the success of Jana Dhwani Yatra led by opposition leader Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief D K Shivakumar. They also asked the leaders from Mysuru to strengthen the party in the district, pointing out that it will help the party cross the majority of 113 in the assembly.
Ahead of the Jana Dhwani Yatra, senior Congress leaders led by MP GC Chandrashekar, who heads the coordination committee, held a meeting with party workers from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, Mandya and Hassan districts. They were given a task to ensure 1 lakh public attend the Jana Dhwani Yatra at Hassan, 50,000 in Chamarajanagar and 2 lakh in the Mysuru rally.
The yatra will reach Hassan on January 21 after touring Chikkamagaluru. It will tour Mysuru and Chamarajanagar on January 25 and proceed to Mandya on January 27. The focus was on the rally at Mysuru as the leaders asked the activists to work hard for January 25 rally as it is Siddaramaiah’s home turf.
Chandrashekar said the charge of political opponents that Congress in the state is a divided house has been debunked as both the top leaders are touring the state together. This will convey to voters that Congress will provide a stable government in the state, he said. He set a three-month deadline for party activists to win over the voters.
“BJP lacks a leader who can take on the Siddaramaiah-Shivakumar combo. The party activists should ensure the victory of at least 30 candidates from the Mysuru region,” he said.
Leaders from Hassan asked the party's top brass to announce candidates well in advance as it will help the candidates and their supporters to reach out to people. Voters in the Malnad region are not in favour of JD(S), they contended.
KPCC working president R Dhruvanarayana asked the women leaders to ensure they get their followers to the convention hosted by the KPCC in Bengaluru on January 16, which will be attended by AICC general secretary Priyanka Gandhi-Vadra.
Congress MLAs HP Manjunath, Anil Chikkamadu, C Puttaranga Shetty and R Narendra, MLCs D Thimmaiah and Madhu Madegowda were present on the occasion.
